2006 CfP: Submission and selection process

• a scientific description of the project: problem identification, bibliographic references and state of the art; originality of the proposal; nature of the expected results; research method and work programme; industrial sites that could be concerned by the research work; transferable results expected; methods for the transfer of the results. 
• a presentation of the research team, previous publications, collaborations envisaged;
• a presentation of the budget, of co-financing already obtained or expected.

Please supply this information in the file CfP-FonCSI-2008-response-form.doc (Microsoft Word format) or CfP-FonCSI-2008-response-form.odt (OpenDocument / OpenOffice format).

Submissions should be sent before October 1^st 2008 at 18:00 by email to gilles.motet@icsi-eu.org. A paper copy of the proposal should also be sent by postal mail, addressed to:

Projects will be selected by FonCSI's scientific steering committe. The selection process will be based on the following criteria:

• the extent to which the problem corresponds to a research theme identified in the call for proposals;
• the innovative nature of the problem studied, or of the scientific method and research work that is envisaged;
• a guarantee of results: the competence of the research team, the plausibility of the research method, work plan and proposed budget;
• applicability of the results: the potential for finding industrial applications and industrial sites to validate the research results; the expected impact of the work in improving industrial safety. 

A response with justification will be provided by March 2009.

The following management process will be put in place for projects funded by FonCSI:

• A Steering Committee will be established for each project, and will meet at regular intervals or at the request of the research team. This committee will comprise members of the research team, experts from the industrial sites concerned by the research, a representative of FonCSI, and external researchers. This committe will allow the members of the project to benefit from an open and stimulating research environment, and foster cross-pollination between scientific disciplines. 
• Participation in work seminars in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experience between researchers (one inaugural seminar followed by biannual work seminars).
  
• At the end of the project, the funded research teams will collaborate on a report that will be presented in a colloquium sponsored by FonCSI, bringing together researchers from different disciplines and experts from industry.
