2006 CfP : Types of research financing

Research proposals are invited concerning different forms of project length and financing:

• Short projects (in duration or scope), such as a litterature review, the synthesis of research work that has already been applied in the field, the organisation of a seminar, the preparation of a submission to a french or european research call, the validation of research results in the field. The length of these projects should generally be between a semester and a year.
• Long projects, that should include case studies and fieldwork. Funding may be provided for a PhD thesis (over three years, possibly using the french CIFRE mechanism for public/private funding of PhD work), or for a post-doctoral grant (12 months). 

FonCSI will give priority to innovative research proposals, that mark a break with previous thinking and practice. Research proposals should, as far as possible, involve multiple scientific disciplines: social sciences, engineering and technological and physical sciences. Long projects must include a fieldwork component where the research is applied in a high-risk organisation. Locations and organisations for this fieldwork may be proposed by the research team, or (if no existing partnership is in place) will be proposed by FonCSI for funded projects.
