ICSI's objectives
The Institute
for an Industrial Safety Culture is a non-profit organization based in Toulouse, France. It has three objectives:
- help
improve safety in industry, by exchanging experience and best practice
and by transfering the results of safety research to industry;
- stimulate
debate between high-risk companies and civil society, by promoting open
and informed discussion on these sensitive issues;
- acculturate all stakeholders to the questions arising from risk and industrial safety.
The ICSI is a
crossroads between the stakeholders concerned by industrial safety:
- large industrial groups who manage high-risk activities (chemicals manufacturing, nuclear power generation, transport, ...);
- trade unions;
- academic and research organisations;
- local and regional government bodies;
- associations and NGOs representing civil society.
§
The ICSI has members from each of these groups, primarily in France. The Institute has three types of activity:
- education
and training: Master's level courses and professional training;
- interdisciplinary
research aiming to improve industrial safety, in close collaboration
with industry;
- work and discussion groups on
various topics related to risk management and acceptance.
